Jay Kimble[^] has kicked off an interesting discussion[^] initially regarding UI Mappers, but has been side tracked a bit toward the O/R Mapper topic. I have to say that I don’t completely agree with some of the statements he made regarding O/R Mappers and his distrust of them. However, I do understand where he is coming from because I, at one point, had similar feelings toward O/R Mappers. It can be very hard putting your trust into someone else’s product when you are used to writing everything yourself.
Prior to reading Jay's post[^], I had spent some time in the past week or so contemplating how I could build out a flexible UI Mapper. Based on what I saw in Jay Kimble's post[^], it appears that Paul Wilson[^] has one, and I should probably look into it. I haven't done any research on existing UI Mappers, but it appears to be a topic gaining some weight in the blogsphere. I do plan on taking a look at Paul Wilson's UI Mapper[^] to see if my thoughts are somewhat inline with what he has done, or if I need to continue thinking.
As of this writing, I'm thinking I would like to build a UI Mapper with reliance on the Codus O/R Mapper[^). It would make for a great challenge, and would help give back to the community. Hmmm....
